My God Mother

Created by Roger 2 years ago

Margaret was my God Mother. She became friends with my mother when they served together in the Army during the second World War.

We rather lost touch until the late1990s when my mother developed dementia and Margaret wanted to visit her in the care home. After that we met a few times at the Sackville (I was living in Sussex at that time) and enjoyed a few lunches together.

After I moved to Thetford in 2003 I'm afraid we lost touch again, and attempts to speak on the 'phone were not successful due to Margaret's hearing difficulties, but we were exchanging Christmas/Birthday cards until the end.

I'm now 75 and living on the other side of the country so I'm afraid I won't be able to attend the funeral, nut I will be thinking of her.
